Luminox NOT water resistant

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I bought an Luminox Coronado 3037 from an authorized dealer. It is supposed to be water resistant to 200M but at first exposure to less than 2M of salt water, the watch stopped working and I could see moisture inside. I've spent 2 weeks trying to get the authorized reseller and Luminox to honor the warranty and they tell me one more week will do it. We'll see. I called Luminox directly, at (415) 455-****, option 3 sends you to 3rd party servicer that has nothing to offer other than watch repair services. Option 2 (customer service) produced the following quote: "...there is absolutely nothing we can do for you..." I've sent quite a few messages to Luminox via the "Contact Us" link on their web site but I just get an automated response saying they'll contact me. This has been a painfully disappointing purchase.

Dis Satisified

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Girlfriend bought me a Lumi Nox watch for a birthday present. It worked for 6 days and stopped.

Upon contacting the repair department we were told the company wasn't going to honor the warranty because she had bought it off EBAY. It was brand new in original packaging. They wouldn't fix unless she paid and paid plenty!! Got watch back and have been wearing for another 4 months and now the rotating ring with the numbers which surrounds the crystal fell off so she asked if she could send back for repair and I told her no I was going to toss this piece of S___ $250.00 plus previous repair cost watch and get a Timex which I know will run longer and be covered by the company.

Never again will I wear a Lumi Nox watch or any other product associated with this company.

Two Luminox Watches purchased $400 both worthless

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had purchased two watches from Amazon. Navy Seal 3000/3900 V3.

The first watch bezel broke while surfing. Not diving but surfing. Saw moisture inside the glass face. Called Luminox and they told me it was extreme use/abuse.

A 200M depth and above water sport is too abusive? What? Second watch the minute hand came loose after 6 months? Are you kidding me.

This watch has barely been used. No wonder the SEAL's stopped wearing these. Luminox watches are not tactical. They are not even pratical.

They are fragile wrist candy for fools that think they have a tough watch. Buy a Casio G Shock or any other watch.

AVOID AT ALL COST!

1st rule of watches......if you are going to wear surfing you need a screw down crown because the force at which you hit the water has way more pressure than 200m of water pressure.

Luminox watch very poorly made.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This has been a problem since the watch was new. The luminous tubes fell off.

My watchmaker said it was because it was a water based glue that held them in. Then the watch stopped again. The watchmaker said that the hands were magnetic and attracted to each other each time the second hand crossed over the minute hand or the minute hand crossed over the hour hand. This caused the watch to run slow.

After a complete service by my master watchmaker, I was told that the sweep pinion, canon pinion and hour wheel were unnaturally long in order to acommodate the thickness of the luminous tubes in the hands. Since Luminox does not sell parts to anybody, I guess I will just have to toss it.

Total disappointment. Just advertising, not a real watch.

Luminox not what they claim

I have a luminox 3000 original Navy Seals watch and it should be an embarrisment to the Navy Seals. Been broke about 6 times in 5 years, never got anything repaired under warranty, always my fault.

Saltsman's is the only repair center and they are a joke, I even had someone on the phone tell me ifI didn't like it go somewhere else. There is nowhere else! You cannot buy parts anywhere. I bought a broken one on E bay th use for parts.

Mine was a gift and I keep it for that reason, but will never buy another one. I replacwd the battery myself anr the movement was Japan.

I guess there is 51% Swiss parts to make it Swiss made. DON'T BUY!

Had the misfortune of my battery dying in my Luminox watch. Had the Battery replaced and a new face put on by Saltzman about 18 months ago. When the watch began losing time this past March of 2016, dropped it off at Swartzchilds in Midlothian Va, who said it would be a $30 repair. Get a call within next day, and employee stated the watch showed signs of luminous material was lose (BS) and they would need to send it to Rhode Island to Saltzman (grrr) Claiming that the luminous material had to be handled by an OSHA certified watch repairman. Guess my right *** cheek and hip will fall off one day due to the fact my 92FS Police Beretta had those luminous materials in the front and rear sights. Give me a *** break! Needless to say, got the call from Swartzchilds that Saltzman wants $145 to replace battery, gas seal etc, etc. What makes it hard for the consumer is that Saltzman is the only authorized service in the US to work on Luminox watches. If they are truly separate entities, I wish the guys in Switzerland would dump the scammers up in Rhode Island and find some friendly competitors in the States that regard customer satisfaction as a virtue.

I bought my black ops luminox watch at Cabellas in PA about 2years ago. Two weeks into it one of the tritium glow sticks fell off inside the watch. I had to send my very expensive watch to the only company Saltzmans. I got it returned and now the watch keeps stopping on the time and getting days behind. I have changed the battery twice and just today my jeweler tested the battery and it was strong. I emailed luminox and they did their typical "send your watch in again for repairs along with the receipt blah blah blah". No explanation given as to what is could be causing this problem. Their instruction manual is very short, gives no trouble shooting and of course they brag about the navy seals, special forces and all these others groups wearing them but nothing on troubleshooting. For that price I paid, they should honor with a new watch like many of us. My iron man g shock watch hasn't had one issue in 5 years and no battery change whatsoever. As a police officer, military veteran and current law enforcement and military trainer, I'll stick to my g shock and find someone dumb enough to take this watch off my hands.

Luminox Evo Navy Seal Blackout Watch Review from Glendale, California
Updated by user Dec 03, 2015

SEAL should have been capitalized at the end, and I have not found a way to edit. Apologies.

Original review Dec 03, 2015
Bought a Luminox 'Evo Navy Seal Blackout' in Feb this year. I work underwater a lot, and figured that a watch the bore the name 'navy seal' and claimed to be 'developed' for them might actually hold up under far less harsh conditions.

Unfortunately the strap broke in 10months (approx), sitting on the couch with my son and it got really loose and the buckle came off.

Customer service said that their warranty does not cover the outside parts like straps, crystal, bezel, crown etc.

It's sad that a company that does not stand behind the quality of their parts like this, and manufacture pieces that fail so quickly, can use the name of such a respected and elite group like the Navy Seals.

Luminox poor quality

Crystal was scratched in a matter of days. The top of the bezel has a small luminescent piece that fell out.

Overall very disappointed. Tried to find a sapphire crystal but they say you can't put one in it. Have a friend with the same watch and he has the same problems.

The small piece fell out just like mine. Haven't taken it in the water because of all the complaints that I have read about it getting moisture in the watch.

I am a Swiss trained Certified Master Watchmaker and I feel so sorry for anyone who ends up with a Luminox watch. Most have the lumi cylinders loose and rolling on the dial or stuck between the hands. I believe this is because moisture enters the case and loosens the adhesive that used to hold them in place.

Day of the week change

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I bought a model 1924 Luminox and the date changes at midnight. However, the day changes too but to the SAME OLD DAY in German.

It does not convert to English until 3:00 a.m. Maybe sounds silly, but all should change to English (because that is where they are selling them) at the stroke of midnight. I do NOT need to know what the previous day is in German at 12:30 a.m. It's a useless feature in my opinion and should be corrected.

We already know that the previous day is. It should change (no matter what language) at midnight for the amount of money I paid. My $30.00 Timex changes perfect at midnight.

Luminox should do the same. No more Luminox for me!!!!!!!!!

not only would they not repair my watch under warranty but wanted to charge me $300 for a full service and charge me for a new dial also. *** YOU LUMINOX.

WHEN I GET MY WATCH BACK IM GOING TO SEE HOW FAR I CAN THROW IT INTO THE INTERCOASTAL WATERWAY. LUMINOX=TOTAL ***.

Luminox Watches - Bad rubber material and bad manufacturing

Here are my emails communications to Luminox Customer Care.

Message to Luminox Customer Care:

My mother gave me a luminox watch for my birthday. It is a series 8800. I do not ware it anymore as the rubber band is breaking. I was in Cabelas Lone tree store looking at getting a new band. They told me to contact you as the band should not be breaking apart in two years. Please let me know what I should do next.

From Luminox Customer Care:

Replacement straps and keepers are available through our Service Center. They can be reached at 401-946-****, info@***s-watches.com or http://www.saltzmans-watches.com/luminox_watch_bands .

Message to Luminox Customer Care:

Hello Customer Care.

If I buy a new rubber watch band will it break again? I do not want to just keep buying $40.00 rubber watch bands that will break within two years. Please advise me of what to do about this problem? Is this just bad manufacturing or bad rubber material in the rubber bands? Maybe it is the high altitude of where I live. I am in Parker, Colorado. 6,000 I do hike in the mountains here so I do go even higher. Maybe Luminox are not a watch that functions well at high altitudes. Do you think that is the problem? Again please advise me.

From Luminox Customer Care:

Altitude should not be a factor in the wear of your rubber strap. The rubber will break down over time. The life of a rubber strap can wear quicker depending on how the watch is treated. We do have nylon options for most of our watches. Nylon is typically going to last longer and be a stronger material. They can be reached at 401-946-****, info@***s-watches.com or http://www.saltzmans-watches.com/luminox_watch_bands.

Message to Luminox Customer Care:

Hello Customer Care.

Ok. Got it. It is just bad rubber material and bad manufacturing.

I told the Luminox that I would put email communications on the Internet.

Why not get a better one at lower cost from www.joyawatch.com ? The rubber silicone watch band is not a high tech product.

True! My black ops band is now held together with black duct tape until I get new band. I loved the lite poly silicone bla bla bla but it deteriorated in 17 months.

I have a Lumin Ox Recon with the rubber strap. It was a Christmas gift in 2019.

I wear it part time and I'm now facing my second wrist band replacement ! At $40.00 + I think I should get more than 8.5 month average life out of the watchband !! I own a cheap novelty watch with a rubber wrist band that is over 6 years old and the wristband has never been replaced. This being a "Military Style" watch, you would think it would hold up much better.

I also dropped it once and the second hand fell off.

The box and the paper work got lost during a move and it was never registered and I had to pay to have the second hand put back on ! I like the styling of this watch, but I am very disappointed in the quality of it and the wristband!!!!!!

Luminox Mens Black Ops Watch Review from Menlo Park, California

My black ops watch has fallen apart now twice. Rubber band has broken after one year , emblem on the face of the watch has come unglued, The illuminating numbers on the face of watch have both fallen off the 12 and six spots.

Mind you the emblem has fallen off twice it was glued back on once and has fallen off again.

So painful customer service. I don't know any military personnel that support or where the watch and I will never make this mistake of purchasing LUMINOX AGAIN.

I also bought a lumi nox watch. What a monumental crap rubbish of a watch.

The band is beyond *** poor and after a year of seldom use it just fell a part. Date recording does not work. Florescent on minute hand not working either.

Best off all dust collecting on the inside of the glass. Rubbish beyond believe.

Luminox = Substandard Product

Sorry to read of these many problems with Luminox watches and their apparently poor customer services. I am a long time watch guy and have many watches in my personal collection. I only ever purchased one Luminox which I bought new about 3 years ago. At the end of three years the original Luminox battery died. I purchased a new renata battery and installed it but the watch failed to start up after which I tried a second battery but still no success. Looking at the inferior quality of the watch internally and knowing it was under three hundred US, I discarded it and considered it a lesson learned. I have several authentic Rolex's in collection and that said you can never go wrong with the Submariner. As for tactical military style watches I have 4 from MTM , their product is stellar and their customer service equally so
