Frequent defects

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This is the second service required for an out of warranty 1880. Now it looks like a whole new movement, stem and crown needs replacement. Unusual because it generally sits in the drawer. For a watch that's supposedly built to take some abuse - and the fact the most abuse has been at my desk, the mechanism is poorly designed. I will not pay the egregious $205 to Saltzman's for a fix.I'd sooner save the strap - and burn the watch. Really disappointed in the watch and the price for repair - fully 30% of the cost of a replacement and worth nothing on the second-hand market even if perfect.I have a few Luminox but you can bet it's my last.

Do not get this watch if you’re expecting durability. You’d be much better off getting a G-Shock for a quarter of the price.

Watch fell from my wrist to the bathroom counter(maybe 12-18 inch drop) crystal broke. Band busted within a year. Bezel fell off twice. None covered by manufacturers or distributors.

They are what they look like, cheap plastic watches

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
5 months after purchase pin falls out that holds band on and band came off of watch, had to pay to have it fixed 1 year and 6 months after purchase crystal breaks, glass damages internal mechanisms and luminox wants 150.00 to repair, Now these are advertised as navy seal watches and are supposed to be durable, but guess what they do not guarantee anything on the outside of this supposedly durable watch,no exactly putting your money where your mouth is, and i dont do anything that would cause this kind of breakage just looked down one day and saw it was broke so it couldnt have hit on anything that hard do yourself a favor go ahead and buy a cheap gshock and save your money and if it breaks you can spend another 75 instead 400.00, Luminox is exactly what they look like, cheap pieces of plastic so dont waste 400 on that

Disappointed

I placed an order with Luminox USA for a Navy Seal 3258 and it was out of stock. I was requested to enter my email address and I would notified when the watch was back in stock. On the 14 of June I was notified thru email that the watch was available to order. I placed the order that day and received a confirmation email thanking me for my purchase. On the 18th of June the funds were deducted from my account and hours later I received another email from Luminox USA stating my order had been canceled due to lack of stock. I called customer service to complain and the agent was extremely evasive, wouldn’t answer my questions as to why the funds were removed from my account and would only tell his name was Bobby. He said there was no one else complain to and that if l called back he would be the only person answering the phone. Very unprofessional. As of now still waiting to be reimbursed.

Beware - Watches do NOT keep accurate time

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Bought a Luminox Navy Seal Watch for Christmas 2018. Had it a total of 2 weeks before I realized it kept losing time, reset proper time and focused on whether it was me or not.

Sure enough, losing time. Soo, contacted Luminox who sent me to Saltzmans Repair to have it shipped to them with me covering the $17 shipping return. Ok, benefit of the doubt right? Watch was sent back to me on my dime only to discover watch was losing time worse than when I originally sent in.

Now its losing 15 minutes every other day. Contacted luminox again, send to Saltzsmans again. Today is March 13, 2019 and I am notified watch is coming back to me. For the time I have owned this watch, it has been in my possession for approx 27 days out of 90 days.

A quartz watch, expensive and branded as military dependable.... obviously you can see my frustration having paid high dollar for a watch that has not worked. We will see what happens next but I am not very confident.

Absolutely zero trustworthiness, and the experience of any support from luminox has been horrific. Communication is terrible.

Mine does the same, I find myself checking time every morning to see if it kept accurate time. Not expected for an expensive watch!

You paid high dollar for the name, not the quality of the "innards" of the watch itself----a quartz watch should keep accurate time but only if it is made of quality materials. You would be better off just buying a Timex watch, of which there are many styles for around $35.

Wow ... how lousy 8400 series

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Have a series 8400 that has been returned for service twice for same problem to authorized service center back east. Watch stops running intermittently. Shake it and it starts running. Also had batteries installed 3 times over the life of the watch only once where the battery was worn out. Seems highly unlikely Navy Seals would wear a watch that is this unreliable.

So this most recent failure to run, I had it with Luminox and bought a competing brand. I will not continue to throw money into this money pit.

As an electrical engineer, I decided to see if I could find the issue. I opened the back and first looked at the battery contacts. A flat plate with holding screw on top and a small probe on the bottom. Sure enough, that design was the problem. With the screw fully tightened, the battery wasn't really tight. I bent the bottom contact upward to create a little tighter electrical contact fit. Solved the problem. Actually stopped wearing my new watch for the past two months to make sure that was the problem. It was.

The funny part is I thought this watch was magnetically sensitive because the stoppages occurred frequently when working around strong magnets. The magnets were pulling on the battery causing loss of contact. Too bad an otherwise good watch has such poor battery contact design.

Moisture getting in under crystal/face of watch

Luminox - Moisture getting in under crystal/face of watch

I purchased watch through authorized LUMINOX dealer for $422.00 A couple of months (2or3) after warranty had expired I was hand washing some garments, and noticed moisture under crystal.Mind you that is less than 1 foot under water.Luminox “CLAIM TO FAME” is that Navy Seal dive teams use their watches. This watch has been worn very little an is in prestine shape.Watch was sent off for repair to Saltsmans (authorized LUMINOX repair) that was another $90.00 Well long story short it’s sad when a $19.00 Casio Forester watch out preforms a$400.00 plus watch.Think before you buy! Their also is a Class Action Investigation on going with many others having similar problems. You can find it On Line.

. dropped my luminox watch from about 3 ft and glass shattered just like that.

my casio g shock has been dropped many times from 3 ft or higher and never had any problem.

very poor quality . wont buy this brand ever again.

You would've been much better off with a submariner Rolex, you can swim with them up to a certain depth. You may also want to get your attorney general involved along with the BBB in the area where the watch came from

Terrible service on a watch that does not keep time.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My kids gave me a Luminox dive watch for Father's Day 2017. After only a few weeks it stopped keeping the correct time.

I replaced the battery and for a while it worked, only to fail again. I sent the watch back to Saltzman repair service under Luminox's directions with the warranty card, unfortunately I listed an incorrect place of purchase as my son thought he had bought it at a local dive shop. I corrected that but this was ignored by Saltzman who stated the watch's mechanism was faulty and needed repair at a price over $100, including credit for the $15 I had already sent them. I complained directly to Luminox who essentially told me they would not honor the 2 year warranty.

I asked that my watch be sent back, only to be told I had to send another $15 for shipping. In the end I argued that they already had this payment and they returned my BROKEN watch. I have since thrown it away and am diving with my old Swiss Army dive watch.

The bevel is faded and the dial is fused stuck, but after 20 years it still keeps perfect time! Never Luminox again, lesson learned!

I have model 3080 for less than two years. Boughtt it from Costco. The rubber strap broke just short of the two year warranty. The 6 months later the minute have came lose. I am a dentist and that is my daily watch. I thought this watch was made for the Navy Seals. I guess a dentist is tougher than a Navy Seal!

Bait and Switch beware

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Ordered a Christmas gift, watch from them. Paid for it received order confirmation. They sold them out. Did not send me my watch, cancelled my order. Offered me nothing in return. Would not give me a watch that they do have in stock at the price I paid for the one I cannot get. Would do absolutely nothing for me even though they admit it was their fault. Gladly sell me anything else they had at full price.

Hands no longer visable in the dark.

Purchased this watch about 2011 and it is worn about 50% of my waking hours. (I have owned four.) This one keeps great time however the big draw on these, the big draw on these for me the visability in low or no light has failed totally. When looking up any warranty information it states that warranty card must be sent. Now how many people still have the warranty card and receipt six years later? Only other issue that I have had with these is the numbers on the bezel disappear at about five years.

Luminox watches

Luminox watches while not the most expensive watches out there in their category but are "Top Shelf" regarding reliabiliy in all regards and their apperance in general. "You get what you pay for and when it comes to Luminox watches that old "Cliche" fits the bill exactly...!!!

The buttons on the comments button on this page aren't working and neither is the login link so I must go this route and I'm very sorry for the inconvenience https://luminox.pissedconsumer.com/moisture-getting-in-under-crystal-face-of-watch-201808****28843.html Here's a copy of the message I sent to the website admins I saw your post about a pissed customer of an over $400 watch where moisture got under the crystal. It sounds to me like the customer would've been much happier with a Rolex. Rolexes are actually known for being waterproof and they require an actual watch repair person in order to be serviced. That's because real Rolexes are actually sealed at the factory. A smart move would be to get a hold of this customer and recommend they report this problem with this watch to their state Attorney General's office and the BBB in the area where they bought the watch. If it was bought online, have them investigate and find out where the watch came from. The first step would be to check the return address on the package or the receipt that came with the package if this watch was ordered online When the customer gets refunded, they should go to a Rolex dealer and invest in a real Rolex with the refund money, they're actually good for a certain water depth with absolutely no problem whatsoever as long as you stay within its limits Rolexes are usually known as submariner's, a much better diving watch than the Navy SEALs are using according to this customer. If the Navy SEALs are using this exact same watch then someone needs to contact the headquarters and warn them. Then again, maybe the watch the customer bought may actually turn out to be a knock off The conclusion is that the watch you bought may actually turn out to be a knock off of the real one, so more than likely you may of been screwed if this is a knock off. It's best to try and get your money back and get a full refund. Your best bet would be to get the BBB involved but get the branch in the area where the website is being run or from where the watch was shipped. Check your package and your receipt for a return address and any phone numbers. You can also contact your state attorney generals office. I don't know how long you had to watch but I would also contact the place that has this website. If there's no phone number or email, this may be a big red flag and they may actually be selling knock offs. This is when you may also want to contact the federal trade commission and give them a heads up there's a possible scam going on and tell them what happened to you and show them this article
