My Luminox Chronograph Model 3083 gets (MINUS) 5 stars! I bought this watch in 2012 like so many thinking its light, tough, masculine, sponsored by the "Navy Seals" AND WOW its SWISS MADE!?.

The first year I owned it, the silicone band dry-rotted (first signs of being fleeced)! I was in disbelief, honestly! I replaced the band with a German-made carbon fiber watch band. Early into the 3rd year the battery died.

It went into storage, as I lost interest in the watch. I thought this year I'd revive it, and sent it into replace the battery. I also noticed the 10-year warranty lighting vials were dimming drastically so, I asked they be checked. The only location provided for service by Luminox was Saltzman's.

The estimate I received was almost $300.00 for "required repairs." Pure greed! I could, if foolish, and just buy another Luminox for that price, right? Gone are the days of honesty, integrity and pride. And no longer a time piece tgat will last a lifetime.

Luminox should be ashamed of themselves but, surely they continue to enjoy the wealth of their profits, as we consumers continue to buy based on name recognition, sponsors and a lack of diligent investigation beforehand. Hence, the old legal adage "buyer beware!" I bought a citizen solar diving watch and it has given me nonstop reliability since 2006 ***with no battery replacement or leakage***. The fact that Luminox is sponsored by the Seals, and is Swiss made, is a joke. This watch is simply overrated and of inherently poor, poor quality for any reliable use.

And service repairs are cost prohibitive. Many reviews criticize the internal construction as unimpressive, at best. Moreover, I think Luminox does no justice to either the SEALS nor the Swiss names, but that is today. My wife bought me a GPS - SUUNTO military style watch the year before last for about the same price I paid for the Luminox.

And I can say, at very least say, the band is still "in tact." My father had a SUUNTO compass from the early 80's and it remains a work of art and an instrument of precision. Luminox, should have more transparency and sell their watches for what their really worth, $29.95. Given their likely cost basis in these plastic "throw away" watches, Luminox would likely render greater profits bssed upon volume of sales. Take notes Luminox!

Making as much money as possible is all that matters! Right?

Reason of review: Bad quality.
